The mindset

Business is a mental game, not a physical one. Four ideas to keep close:

  • See it firstPicture yourself as the top detailer in your city. Then put the work on your calendar. Showing up every day beats motivation. Keep emotion out of decisions, and track your own numbers, not just your team's.
  • Embrace the grindLong days, tough customers, and workers who quit are part of it. Each one shows you what to fix. Don't compare your first year to someone's tenth. What looks like a roadblock now looks like a speed bump later.
  • Pivot, don't quitWhen the market moves, adjust. Add ceramic, or try new marketing. But stay on one business. If you run four, the shop that only does detailing will beat you.
  • It's all your faultIt's about ownership, not blame. When a customer leaves unhappy, ask what you could do better: training, rules, whatever it takes. Check your business while it's alive, not after it fails.
