Post on Indeed

Indeed is the best place to find detailers. Add screening questions so you only talk to people who fit.

Review applicants

  1. Look for car detailing experience.
  2. If someone looks good, ask for their resume.
  3. Look for a neat, organized resume and about 2 years at each job. That tells you they won't flake.
  4. Make sure they've worked recently.

Call references

Only call work references. Not their mom, cousin, or best friend. Ask open questions:

Reference questions

How do you know [Name]? What was it like working with [Name]? What is [Name] best at, and where could they improve?

Meet in person

  1. Invite them to your shop. No shop? Meet at a coffee shop.
  2. Book a few interviews back to back, so you can compare people.
  3. Look for calm, polite people who listen. Someone who talks the whole time to impress you is a red flag.

Try them out

  1. Give them a 7-day trial, or have them shadow you for a few days.
  2. Ask someone on your team what they think. Your team has to get along.
  3. Not a fit? Keep looking.
